Prague residents, heads up!
From 6 January 2025, Pankrác station on Metro Line C will close for a year for renovation and its connection to the new Metro Line D.
It is a great honour to help document progress on this important project under the wing of HOCHTIEF CZ a.s. My work will be used both as documentation and by Dopravní podnik hl. m. Prahy, Prague’s public transport company.

My work on the project
I always film with the site manager, who guides me around the construction site, shows me the current progress and points out key moments that need to be captured. To keep the documentation as clear as possible, I pay close attention to recording where and when each shot was taken, because underground tunnels often look very similar.
Working on the site is demanding not only for the workers, who operate in two shifts around the clock, but for me too. Cold, mud and dust are a regular part of a working environment that demands thorough preparation and adaptability.
Flying a drone underground
One major challenge is using the DJI Air 2S drone. Although it comes with modern assistance systems and technology, it behaves completely differently underground, where there is no GPS signal.
Without GPS, the drone loses its stability: it keeps moving after I release the control stick and becomes much harder to handle. Flying here takes precision, anticipation and quick reactions, especially on dramatic flights through scaffolding and other obstacles.
For anyone planning to fly in a similar environment, I have a small tip: turn off RTH (Return to Home). If the signal drops underground, this function could activate and cause the drone to collide with obstacles above it.
